People choose designer totes for a variety of reasons.  Some like them for their functionality, some for their looks , and frankly, some just want to show off the designer name because they can!   Some may play down the prestige that comes with carrying their belongings in a designer bag with a great name, but the fact of the matter is, some people pay a LOT for the privilege.   A high quality designer tote will blend all of the aforementioned qualities for its owner and honestly, you should be proud to flaunt it a little if you've got it!

If you look around at all when you are out shopping, you may have noticed that large bags are making a comeback.  For some ladies, they never went away.   Their practicality, for those who like to take everything with them, just can't be beat.   You must remember though that not every venue is appropriate for carrying a very large bag.  For example, you wouldn't want to walk into an interview looking as though you were packed up for a trip to the beach.  BUT...there is such a huge variety of great designer totes available to complete a myriad of looks, that you CAN get away with carrying one most places!

There are a plethora of styles available from designers known for their high quality and great design.  These capacious bags are made to hold all of your essentials and then some.  Totes have a long history and many functions.  A short list includes business totes, sport totes, travel totes, casual everyday totes, evening out totes, totes for hauling baby supplies such as diapers and bottles, shoe totes...the list goes on and on.  Sizes and materials vary quite a bit as well.  A leather designer tote will offer a much different presentation than a casual canvas tote designed for going to the gym. Regardless of the brand name, style or size you choose, you should definitely take a few moments to examine the tote's construction.  Here, your standards can be a bit flexible depending on what you are buying.  Obviously  though, if you are spending a substantial amount on a designer tote bag, you should expect as near to perfection as can reasonably be expected.  There should be no frays or loose spots in stitching or seams.  The color should definitely not come off if rubbed with a tissue, and the quality should be evident on both the outside AND the inside of the bag.  You are paying for the quality after all.  This is also a good time to mention that if you are buying a designer bag, you should always learn the markings and signature details that identify the designer.  Also know that an authentic designer bag, in new condition, will not have flaws in the stitching or unmatched patterns where seams meet.  That is often one of the biggest tip-offs that a bag is not authentic.

With such a wide variety of styles and designers to choose from, there is a tote for almost every person and situation.  There are even unisex style totes for men.  Although I'm not sure the men I know would appreciate getting one as much as they should!  Explore the different styles and designs until you find the one that expresses what you have to say!
