Hobo purses are often thought of as one of the more casual styles available in purses and handbags.  While many ladies do prefer to carry these bags in more casual settings, there are some example of hobos available that dress up quite well.  You can find the one pictured here on Amazon by the way.

Hobo purses have also become available in convertible forms.  One of the recent posts on this site featured a hobo purse designed to convert to a backpack purse with just the quick pull of a zipper.  You can spend a lot on hobos if you are so inclined, but there are plenty of cheap hobo purses for sale that will still allow you to show off your sense of style and fashion.  Of course these purses are available from the major designer purse manufacturers, but there are also some very nice minor brands available that look great performing their duties for a very small price.

Hobo bags get their name from the their shape, not because they are of any lesser quality.  If you have ever seen any old cartoons of "hobos" riding the rails, you probably noticed that most of them are carrying their belongings wrapped up in a handkerchief on the end of a stick.  The slouchy shape of that bound up handkerchief is what inspired the name for the hobo purse.  It certainly isn't politically correct I suppose, but some of these bags do look a bit like that when their soft sides are drawn up at the ends.

It is usually a good idea to check out eBay's listings as well as Amazon's whenever you decide to start looking for cheap hobo purses.  The hobo is such an incredibly popular style right now that there is bound to be someone using them as a loss leader.  If you don't know what that means, it is simply a product that a seller is willing to take a minor loss on to get you in the door and shopping. They figure that they will make money from you once they get your interest.

This is another example of how being able to take a few minutes to search for things can really save you some money.  Stores and websites set out a few exceptional deals now and then to draw customers in with the hope that they will hang around and buy some more of their stuff.  Just be sure to go in with a plan of exactly what you intend to buy and then stick to the plan.  If you take a moment to browse, you will find that there are styles to fit just about any fashion need.  Hobo purses can easily be found in pretty much any material that you could possibly want.  Most of these will fit the bill nicely for ladies who prefer a somewhat large purse, but be sure to check out the dimensions because there are some relatively small hobo purses available as well.  For extra utility, be sure to watch for convertible hobos.
