Cheap Purses and Handbags
January 13, 2009 · The Purses! (By Brand) · (No comments)

If you've been checking out Marc Jacobs Handbags there are a couple of things you have probably noticed.

  1. Marc Jacobs bags are very nice.  Duh!  They are stylish and made from high quality materials.  As high end bags, the craftsmanship is superior, as it should be.  There are some very nice Marc Jacobs bags out there.  I was poking around Google a bit as I was searching for deals, and I was amazed at the number of searches for the different varieties of Marc Jacobs handbags (and other products) that are plugged into search engines every month.  People are looking for Marc Jacobs items, BIG TIME!
  2. The second thing you have probably found on your quest for Marc Jacobs handbags is that they can be pretty expensive.  Some ladies (and men too) can and will pay whatever it takes to own what they like.  I congratulate them on reaching that point in their lives.   Sadly though, not everyone can afford to shop like that.  I'd say that most people have to think twice or three times before dropping large sums of money on purses and handbags nowadays.  The good news is that you can dig around a bit and still own what you want for a reasonable price.
  3. My last two posts have been about how to find hidden deals on eBay.  If you haven't read them, the first one, is about finding newbie sellers on eBay who haven't yet mastered the art of listing their items.  The second post explains how one little mistake results in tons of great products getting overlooked on eBay every day by bidders.  Please check them out if you get a chance.

Now, back to Marc Jacobs.  In the regular retail world, there is a general price difference between the two lines of Marc Jacobs.  Very briefly,  "The Marc Jacobs Collection" is the higher end, more expensive of the two.  The "Marc by Marc Jacobs" line is not cheap, but is a bit more affordable.  I mentioned the "regular retail world" because on auction sites, like eBay, things can sometimes get turned upside down.  It is a world where things like listing time, proper category choice, keyword selection and search engine traffic all come into play.  It can be a strange place at times but you can benefit from it a LOT.

Using one of my own tips, I searched on "Mark Jacobs" and sure enough, there was a purse just sitting there with no bids at less than $20.  The results weren't as impressive as the ones displayed in my previous post using Dooney & Bourke, but you can see the potential.  Seriously, use the eBay search box on the right and try to misspell a couple of words.  Sometimes you find some interesting stuff.  You usually don't find things like that happening in brick and mortar shops.

And the spelling is just the tip of the iceberg!  But before I start showing off any cheap purses, I wanted to share a great article I found this week while I was digging around.  I always try to stress that you can find great deals on eBay from motivated sellers, but you should always check the sellers feedback rating, look closely at the photos and ask as many questions as you have to until you are totally comfortable.  This page will help you out by showing you the ways to spot a fake Marc Jacobs.  Check it out.

So, anyway, I did find some nice, reasonably priced Marc Jacobs Handbags, along with some interesting accessories listed this week.  I'll be posting again soon!   Here is your short eBay sampler:

It's All About Finding the Cheap Purses!

Hi everyone. You know I'm on a quest to find cheap purses for sale, right?  In my last post, I gave some tips for grabbing great deals off of new eBayers. I hope some of you gave it a shot. If you haven't read the article and given it a try yet, I'm sure there will still be some newbie listers for a while yet.  Remember to check out oddball times to find the best deals on designer purses.

OK, I can't wait, so I'm giving you the special Bonus now!  Are you ready?  Are you sure?  OK then, here you go...

You should also do searches for brand names that have been spelled wrong by eager new listers.  Here's a clue that could save you money... I just did a search and found over 50 misspelled auctions for "Dooney & Bourke"!  Guess which listings will NOT show up in searches for "Dooney & Bourke" when people are looking to buy.  Less people finding the auctions means less competition when you find a purse listed for $9.95!  Like I said, I found over 50 just for this name brand, but here's a little example to get you started (using just a small sample of one common misspelling).  You can use the eBay search box in the right column to start looking for more if you like.  It will jump you right to your results on eBay.

Cheap Purses on eBay

Hi everyone. I hope you had a wonderful Christmas (or any other holiday you may celebrate).  I've got a little gift for you now...

A lot of people who visit this site are experienced online shoppers.  Many though, have made few, if any, online purchases and they are  nervous or hesitant to start for one reason or another.  I've bought and sold frequently on eBay and the larger internet in general over the years.  I enjoy the convenience and have found that you can save some substantial money if you shop wisely.  I've decided to put together some tips for you

today that I hope will come in handy and maybe even save you some money.

1.  Immediately after Christmas is a great time for finding some nice deals online (specifically on eBay).   Right after Christmas every year, there is an influx of new sellers on eBay trying to sell off items they received for Christmas. I'm sure there are many reasons for this happening, but we really don't need to worry about the "why" at this point.

2.  More experienced eBay sellers have learned the best times to list their items and will do their best to highlight important keywords such as the designer name or purse style in their titles and listings. Newbie listers often do not think to do these things.  As a result, their listings do not show up in typical eBay search results, are often seen by fewer people, and achieve a lower end selling price.  This is great news for buyers.

3.  Ask questions of the seller.  If details are sparse, ask a question.  A brand new seller might have overlooked including some details.  Take the time to ask a question.  A person who wants to get their item sold will be more than happy to reply.  If they are unwilling to answer, move on and be glad you didn't buy yourself any communication headaches.

4.  Check the shipping costs that are listed before you bid.  Unfortunately, there are a few bad apples who try to sneak massive shipping costs in when they list an item.  This usually isn't the case, but there are a few jerks who just want to take your money without providing what they promised.  If the shipping cost isn't listed, ask for it.

5.  Whatever it is that you are purchasing, purses, electronics, collectibles, learn a little bit about the item before bidding so that you can recognize quality when you see it

Many people may have received doubles of something that they think will do well selling at auction.  Most likely, many of these auctions will be ending at strange times this week and have oddball titles, as newbies start listing their unwanted treasures without regard for timing or keyword placement.  If you are willing to do a few eBay searches for unorthodox descriptions (you can use the box on the right if you want), you may find some interesting stuff at nice prices.  You can also sort by "ending time" under advanced options and look for items that were listed at times when there are fewer people shopping.  When someone lists an item at 3 in the morning Wednesday because they can't sleep, that means it will end at 3 in the morning the following week.  There are not as many people online in the US at that time to compete for merchandise.  You do the math.

Don't forget to browse the purse category (or any other category, really) without regard for title too to see what shows up.  This is a great week for scouting out after Christmas deals on eBay.

Good luck!

Michelle

Cheap Purses|Cheap Designer Handbags

Cloth purses?  Really?  Why?  Because they are mainly a Spring or Summer accessory, cloth purses can sometimes be snagged at great prices during this time of year. If you are willing to buy out of season, you can really find some amazing deals. Of course this applies not only for purses, but for clothing in general.

So why mention this common bit of wisdom now?

Well, if you are one of the people who enjoys browsing eBay, you may have noticed that many sellers do not really pay attention to the season when they create their listings. Unlike retail outlets, which carefully plan what will be in stock, eBay sellers often list when they get bitten by the bug or when they want to try to pick up a few extra dollars. This is your chance. There will be many more buyers looking for beautiful cloth purses in a couple of months. Grab them now when the competition is low. Good luck!
