Peter Dooney and Frederic Bourke got their brand off the ground back in 1975 in Connecticut. The entrepreneurial pair got into the business of purses and handbags as the eighties began and they haven't looked back since. The name Dooney & Bourke has had several celebrities associated it and some contributed to the line of bags. Emma Roberts and Hayden Panettiere are two notable ones.

Dooney and Bourke Purses are quite popular among designer purse fans and collectors for good reason. They offer the style, fashion and quality purse lovers look for when they select a new designer purse. The relatively low prices for their top quality designer bags is also quite welcome!
Here is a helpful little video I found discussing how to identify and authentic Dooney & Bourke purse. Some main points are to look for quality leather construction and wide stitching on both sides. Because this is one of the more popular designer brands out there, the issue of counterfeiting does come up. These are one of the commonly seen purses available at purse parties, but the quality just is not there when you start dealing with knock offs. A friend of mine was very excited to show me the Dooney she picked up at a party one of her friends had. She was not nearly as thrilled a month later when the bag started to rip where the handle connected to the bag. She saved some money on the original purchase, but the purse itself didn't even last two months. If that is a bargain, I'll skip it!
