Michelle’s Cheap Purses and Handbags

Now, I know this site is dedicated to finding cheap purses.  Many of the ones I point toward are on eBay.  I thought that just for fun, I'd take a look at some of the purses from the other end of the price galaxy.  The most expensive purses for sale online.

As I surfed around a bit off of eBay, I saw mention made of some purses like the Louis Vuitton Tribute Patchwork Bag which was being offered for a paltry forty five grand.  I guess that's a lot, but it was nowhere near the top of the list.  Hermes Birkin Bags routinely outprice this by a cool 20K!  I found a site that showed off some of the more expensive purses out there that you might want to check out.  The top bag was a purse made by the Ginza Tanaka jewelry house.  They only want 1.9 million for that.  You can see that purse here.

I thought I'd stick with eBay, because sometimes you find some odd things listed.  I wasn't disappointed.  One seller was asking for $9,000,000 for a stuffed doggy purse.  I wish him luck.

Most of the purses at the top end were Birkins.  There was also a Christian Dior wallet and some Chanel and Gucci bags thrown in to the mix.  Honestly, these are way out of my reach personally, but if you can afford one, I commend you for getting to that point.  You no doubt have discriminating taste in purses and probably just about everything you buy.

Some people simply insist on carrying a designer purse. That is what they want, and it is the only thing they will accept. Other people are not quite so particular. There are plenty of very nice, fully functional purses around that look great but don't carry a designer name.


There are a lot of ladies out there who just want a way to find cute cheap purses without a lot of hassle. They have no interest in spending a more than twenty or thirty dollars on a purse. Times are tight for a lot of people right now, and even designer purses at deep discounts can be a bit much for many budgets.

You can go out and hit places like Hot Topic, Walmart, TJ Maxx and Marshalls if you have one nearby. You can usually some cheap purse that are very cute right online too though and often at better prices (and with a better selections). The great thing about looking online is that you can cover so much more "territory" so quickly.

The only problem I have with the stores I just named is that I don't like wasting half a day driving around, and the selection is usually lacking. That might just be my opinion because I'm used to looking at all of the purses I've got listed on here!

I've also been a bit disappointed lately when I go to the mall. In fact, I pretty much avoid it now. I thought I'd go and see what kind of cheap designer bags I could dig up a while ago. I was having no luck at all. I found a few cheap leather purses that I liked, but the prices were not all that amazing and I didn't buy anything. I think it is getting difficult for retailers with actual storefronts to compete with online sellers. Cheap purses and handbags are not going to keep their doors open. They have so many expenses to cover that they can only afford to offer a few discounted purses and handbags at one time. If they cut prices too much, they can't pay their bills. Online sellers don't have nearly as much overhead, so they can better afford to offer purses for sale cheap.

If you are searching out purses for cheap, looking around online is definitely a good idea. There are many options available to you. Today, I want to write about one of my favorite places to find good deals on discounted designer purses.

I thought I'd use this post to offer some more tips on finding purses for cheap on eBay.  I'm doing it because there is just no escaping the fact that eBay has some outrageous deals on discount designer handbags.  I know that some people are concerned that they might end up with fake designer handbags (although some folks are looking specifically for knock off designer purses when they go to eBay), but if you are careful, it is very possible to find a great deal on authentic, but cheap designer handbags.

If you have read my earlier posts, you know that I always recommend evaluating the person selling the item (this goes for anything on eBay) before you bid.  The whole point of eBay having feedback scores is so people can do business with a certain level of confidence.  Most serious sellers do their best to maintain their high feedback ratings.  No one who is selling on a regular basis wants to risk their online reputation (ie: feedback score) by ripping someone off with knock off handbags that they have claimed are the real deal.  The loss of feedback score will end up costing them a lot more than they might make on that one underhanded sale. So what kind of feedback score should you look for? Well, it depends.  As an eBay seller you are very much at the mercy of the buyer's level of satisfaction.  eBay does not let sellers leave negative feedback for buyers anymore, but a couple of angry buyers can do some serious long term damage to a seller.  Most sellers try their best to maintain a decent level of customer service and provide accurate descriptions of what is being sold.  I personally won't buy off of someone with less than ten transactions and at least a 97% or 98% feedback.  I think I'm pretty typical in that regard.  You can imagine how bad a couple of negative feedback ratings might hurt someone. That being said, you should be aware of the way items are worded in the listings you see.  If I read "designer leather handbag", I have a different expectation than if I read "designer inspired handbag" or "replica designer handbag."  In this case, I would expect that the two latter listings are something other than authentic designer handbags.  Does that mean that these  are knock off designer handbags?  I don't know.  I suppose that depends on the individual purses and handbags in each auction.  This would be a case where you have to read the individual listings closely, check out all of the photographs and contact the seller if you have any questions.  Most sellers with good feedback will be straight up with you because they want to sell the item and they want the deal to end with the buyer being happy.  If the buyer isn't happy they have to deal with a return (if they take them) and they lose out on the money and time they spent listing the cheap purse in the first place.  Not to mention the threat of negative feedback.

As I typed that last paragraph I realized that I should mention return policies.  eBay has decided that all sellers must start including a return policy this year.  Check to see what each seller's policy is before bidding.  It's just good sense.


Whew!  I feel like I covered a lot of ground there.  In conclusion, I hope you feel a little bit more confident considering eBay as an alternative now.  It is always a good option to check if you are looking for an item like cheap designer bags or any kind of bags for cheap.  For people looking for wholesale designer handbags in lots, it might be the only reasonable alternative without going out and getting a business tax number which is needed to talk to most legitimate big time wholesalers.  If you click on the pages to the right, most of them will take you to eBay listings for the various designers listed.  Whether you are looking for the latest Marc Jacobs handbags or replica designer  handbags, eBay is worth a look when you are searching for purses for cheap.
