The Clutch Purse

The clutch purse fell out of favor for a little while, but it is back to offer an amazing variety of choices for when a small bag is what you need.

With so many drastically different styles of purses available, you could make yourself nuts trying to buy for every occasion.  A clutch purse can fit the bill for a variety of settings.  These little bags are very much designed for traveling light and for carrying along the essentials when a smaller handbag is required.

Although they are small, clutch purses can still get pretty fancy.  They come in a variety of shapes and can range from very ornate to almost boringly basic.  They are not designed to take over the show, but to provide a place for a woman to keep just what she needs.

These bags are referred to as "clutches" for obvious reasons.  You can "clutch" them in your hand and not have to worry about a dangling strap.  Some clutches do come with straps though, and many are easily removable which helps make them adaptable to different situations.

Clutch purses are often used at more formal events like proms, weddings or dressier evening events.  They are a very popular choice as an evening bag and are really designed just for carrying along enough essentials to get you through the event.  You may want to carry your keys, cash, some basic makeup supplies and a few other small essentials, but jamming a clutch purse with non-essentials will tend to make it look frumpy and should be avoided.

Vintage clutch bags are also a popular choice among ladies who appreciate purse and fashion history.  These older bags from earlier eras of fashion can add a great finishing touch to a formal evening outfit.  Often the prices are lower for these purses which can help you to build up a purse collection if you have one.  Brides often carry a small white clutch purse with them at their wedding reception.  A silver or black clutch purse can fit in nicely at a formal evening event.  Clutches are very "handy" bag to have around for those times when you want to travel light, but still have what you need to get you through the night.

I came across this video that shows another "unusual" use for a clutch purse.  Maybe I should have included it in my dog purses post!

Cheap Burberry Bags

Posted in REALLY Cheap Purses on January 29th, 2009 by Michelle – Be the first to comment

Hi everyone.  Would you like to see some cheap Burberry Bags?  I mentioned yesterday that there really are a LOT of unseen great deals on cheap purses that just get lost in the shuffle on eBay every day.  Cheap Burberry Bags are right there among them.  Yesterday's post showed off some great cheap Coach purses that are listed at under $10.  Today I'll show off some Burberry bags.  These are going to be starting at under $20 to increase the selection shown. All of the postings in this little series will in the REALLY Cheap Purses category.  If you are not an eBay member yet, you can sign up for free very quickly.

Some people probably think that I must be making this up or something.  Here is what I believe happens...People talk to each other about how much money they have made selling purses on eBay or hear about a friend of a friend who sold their designer purse for some outrageous amount of money on eBay.  Newby listers type in a name like "Coach purses" or "Burberry handbags" and see some really big numbers listed.  Thinking that they might be able to cash in, they list a purse they own that is still in great shape and figure they'll start it at a very low price because the bidding will drive the selling price of the designer purse way up.  It also costs them less initially (their insertion fee) to set a low price for their designer purse on eBay.  Here is where they run into problems.  You see, the market for selling purses and handbags on eBay is very competitive.  That is good news for buyers.  If the price is too high compared to other purses, buyers just move on.  Sure, there are some authentic designer handbags that are going to get bid way up, but for every one of those, there are several discount designer handbags that don't end up making very much money.  Those are the purses and handbags you want to keep an eye on.  There is still enough of a selection that you can pretty much pick out what you want in many instances.  If you check out any sellers who sell high end designer purses full time, you'll notice that many don't start their prices set too low because they realize they could take a beating if their cheap purses don't catch a few eyes right away.  The exceptions are people who have an established customer base or have such a strong presence as a seller that they know their products will be seen and the prices driven up.  OK, enough of my droning on.  Here are some very nice Burberry bags at outstanding prices.  Please keep checking back as I add more designer names to this category.

Cheap Purses and a Special Bonus!

It's All About Finding the Cheap Purses!

Hi everyone. You know I'm on a quest to find cheap purses for sale, right?  In my last post, I gave some tips for grabbing great deals off of new eBayers. I hope some of you gave it a shot. If you haven't read the article and given it a try yet, I'm sure there will still be some newbie listers for a while yet.  Remember to check out oddball times to find the best deals on designer purses.

OK, I can't wait, so I'm giving you the special Bonus now!  Are you ready?  Are you sure?  OK then, here you go...

You should also do searches for brand names that have been spelled wrong by eager new listers.  Here's a clue that could save you money... I just did a search and found over 50 misspelled auctions for "Dooney & Bourke"!  Guess which listings will NOT show up in searches for "Dooney & Bourke" when people are looking to buy.  Less people finding the auctions means less competition when you find a purse listed for $9.95!  Like I said, I found over 50 just for this name brand, but here's a little example to get you started (using just a small sample of one common misspelling).  You can use the eBay search box in the right column to start looking for more if you like.  It will jump you right to your results on eBay.

Tricks to Find Cheap Purses on eBay After Christmas

Cheap Purses on eBay

Hi everyone. I hope you had a wonderful Christmas (or any other holiday you may celebrate).  I've got a little gift for you now...

A lot of people who visit this site are experienced online shoppers.  Many though, have made few, if any, online purchases and they are  nervous or hesitant to start for one reason or another.  I've bought and sold frequently on eBay and the larger internet in general over the years.  I enjoy the convenience and have found that you can save some substantial money if you shop wisely.  I've decided to put together some tips for you

today that I hope will come in handy and maybe even save you some money.

1.  Immediately after Christmas is a great time for finding some nice deals online (specifically on eBay).   Right after Christmas every year, there is an influx of new sellers on eBay trying to sell off items they received for Christmas. I'm sure there are many reasons for this happening, but we really don't need to worry about the "why" at this point.

2.  More experienced eBay sellers have learned the best times to list their items and will do their best to highlight important keywords such as the designer name or purse style in their titles and listings. Newbie listers often do not think to do these things.  As a result, their listings do not show up in typical eBay search results, are often seen by fewer people, and achieve a lower end selling price.  This is great news for buyers.

3.  Ask questions of the seller.  If details are sparse, ask a question.  A brand new seller might have overlooked including some details.  Take the time to ask a question.  A person who wants to get their item sold will be more than happy to reply.  If they are unwilling to answer, move on and be glad you didn't buy yourself any communication headaches.

4.  Check the shipping costs that are listed before you bid.  Unfortunately, there are a few bad apples who try to sneak massive shipping costs in when they list an item.  This usually isn't the case, but there are a few jerks who just want to take your money without providing what they promised.  If the shipping cost isn't listed, ask for it.

5.  Whatever it is that you are purchasing, purses, electronics, collectibles, learn a little bit about the item before bidding so that you can recognize quality when you see it

Many people may have received doubles of something that they think will do well selling at auction.  Most likely, many of these auctions will be ending at strange times this week and have oddball titles, as newbies start listing their unwanted treasures without regard for timing or keyword placement.  If you are willing to do a few eBay searches for unorthodox descriptions (you can use the box on the right if you want), you may find some interesting stuff at nice prices.  You can also sort by "ending time" under advanced options and look for items that were listed at times when there are fewer people shopping.  When someone lists an item at 3 in the morning Wednesday because they can't sleep, that means it will end at 3 in the morning the following week.  There are not as many people online in the US at that time to compete for merchandise.  You do the math.

Don't forget to browse the purse category (or any other category, really) without regard for title too to see what shows up.  This is a great week for scouting out after Christmas deals on eBay.

Good luck!

Michelle
