Briefcases for Men or Women

Sometimes it might seem that the men are left out a bit around here.  Of course there are some men who carry what might be considered a purse (ever seen the Progressive commercial?).  Most times though, men carry messenger bags or briefcases. These two terms are sometimes used interchangeably on eBay, although many people think of a messenger bag as being soft-sided while a briefcase is more rigidly constructed.

Now that professional women have become an established part of the business arena, they have brought a bit more fashion sense to the scene.  A very popular item for sale on eBay is a classic that continues to stand the test of time.  I'm referring to the vintage leather briefcase.  These hold up well to the rigors of time and regular use and they look good doing it.

Judging by the good sales figures, men and women both seem to be pretty attracted to these classic briefcase styles.  If you are not familiar with these, you might be surprised that there are designer briefcases too.  Vintage Gucci briefcases and even vintage Hermes both do quite well for themselves when they show up for sale.

You will find that in most cases, these vintage briefcases are priced pretty reasonably.  If you like to have something that is just a little bit different than everyone else, or you just appreciate the vintage styling, you should take a minute to check these vintage leather briefcases out.  During my recent check, there were many of these briefcases selling for around $130 - $150.  If you have priced new briefcases or almost any all leather bag of decent quality recently, you will probably realize that this really is not too bad of a price.  You may find some sneaking by for less than this, but I noticed that most sellers did not even start vintage leather briefcase auctions for less than one hundred dollars.  It never hurts to look though.  You could always sort by lowest first and see what comes up for you.

UPDATE:  After writing the above, I did a bit more searching over a week and found that several great bags started showing up for a LOT less than $100.  I have no idea why I didn't see them on the first time around, but there they were!  I've show some of these great prices above.
